Target group
This course is designed for adult educators, librarians, community workers, senior educators, NGO staff, and trainers working with digitally hesitant adults who need extra support building confidence with technology.
Course objective
This course helps adult educators develop practical methods for teaching digital skills to adults with limited confidence or experience in using technology. Participants will explore accessible teaching approaches, digital inclusion strategies, online safety, introductory AI concepts, and confidence-building techniques that make technology understandable and useful for everyday life.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Teach basic digital skills step by step;
- Explain AI in simple language;
- Support safe online behaviour;
- Reduce digital anxiety;
- Adapt tools for adults with limited digital access.

Schedule
Day 1
Digital Confidence and Learner Needs
• Discussion of digital fears and frustrations.
• Simple skills mapping exercise.
• Group work on adult learner profiles and support needs.
Day 2
Basic Digital Literacy
• Guided practice using common devices and functions.
• Step-by-step tasks for email, browser use, and forms.
• Peer support exercise in pairs or small groups.
Day 3
Safe Online Behaviour and Fake News
• Spot-the-scam activity.
• Discussion of passwords, privacy, and safe browsing.
• Group analysis of misleading online content.
Day 4
Simple AI and Practical Tools for Daily Life
• Live demonstration of beginner-friendly AI use.
• Prompt-writing exercise for everyday tasks.
• Discussion of when AI helps and when it should not be used.
Day 5
Lesson Design, Peer Practice, and Next Steps
• Design of a beginner-friendly digital lesson.
• Micro-teaching in small groups.
• Reflection on transfer to local adult education settings.
